A computer program developed to provide a backup system for airport surveillance radar in the event of a failure or malfunction.. The program uses air route traffic control center radar for the processing and presentation of data on the ARTS IIA or IIIA, ARTS IIIE, and Common ARTS displays. ARTS IIIE system supports 5 sensors, 2800 simultaneous tracks, and 58 displays, whereas Common ARTS supports 15 radars. 9000 tracks, and 300 displays. The computer program that provides a backup system for airport surveillance radar in the event of a terminal secondary radar system failure. See also automated radar terminal system.
